Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I hope that we can each take some time to give thanks for the many blessings we receive every day.

This Sunday we will begin our Christmas season. Each week we will focus on an aspect of Christmas. Sunday we will look at a story from the Old Testament that has incredible ramifications for the birth of Jesus. The story is found in 1 Samuel 2 and it tells of a woman named Hannah who longs for a child.

Read 1 Samuel 2 and then come next Sunday to learn why this is an important part of the Christmas story.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,
Doug

For┬áthe last few weeks we have been looking at Paul’s first missionary journey in the Book of Acts (Acts 13 & 14). During this time, Paul and Barnabas preached the good news of Jesus Christ and many Jews and Gentiles believed.

Others did not and opposed the teaching. In Acts 15, we will see that there was also some opposition from within the church (believers in Jesus). It is important to recognize that we will always have to wrestle through differing views and ideas– even with those close to us. As we study Acts 15, we will see how they did it in the church at Jerusalem.

I encourage you to read Acts 15 this week. And join us this Sunday as we worship and look at God’s Word together. It is important that we come together as a community to love and serve one another.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This Sunday we will continue our study in the Book of Acts by looking at Acts 14:1-20. This is a continuation of the Paul’s first missionary journey. We will see that many people respond to the preaching of Paul and Barnabas. Some are overjoyed with the “good news” while others are furious with this “radical view”.

Read chapter 14 and try to see what God might be saying to you in these verses.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Forgot to mention and remind that we change our clocks tonight!

Fall back (hooray– an extra hour of sleep!)… That means that at 2:00am tomorrow you move your clock back to 1:00am.

Preachers love this day because everyone is awake and early!

Grace and peace,

This Sunday we will continue to look at Paul’s first recorded sermon in the Bible. It is found in Acts chapter 13:13-52.

Last week Paul demonstrated God’s involvement and faithfulness with the people of Israel throughout their history. he then talks about Jesus and his death on the cross. This week we will focus on what Jesus accomplished (Acts 13:32-41). It is unbelievably good news for every one of us!

So take a look at the scripture and listen to God’s voice… He wants you to know these truths. He wants me to know them too…

Looking forward to Sunday!

Doug
