October 29, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

This Sunday we will continue our series Love One Another with the command to Honor One Another

What odes it mean to “honor” someone? When should we do it? Why should we do it?

Join us Sunday as we consider these questions and more. To prepare, read Romans 12:1-12.

We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper this Sunday.

I want to encourage everyone who calls Grace Family Fellowship their church home to commit yourself to coming each week during this series. We are going to discover that we need others and they need us.

Looking forward to Sunday!

PS– REMEMBER TO SET YOUR CLOCKS BACK ON SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

Message: Serve One Another

In this message, James tells us that we are to “confess our sins to one another.” Why is that important? What are some cautions?

October 18th News: Carry One Another’s Burdens

October 17, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

This Sunday we will continue our series Love One Another with the command to carry one another’s burdens.

Have you ever felt weighed down by the stress, pressures, and circumstances of life? Sometimes these struggles come from outside sources and catch us unaware and unprepared; but other times, we bring these struggles on ourselves with unwise actions, attitudes, and desires.

In either case, God calls his people to see other’s weighed down with heavy burdens and to help to carry them. If you have ever had someone lovingly come alongside you in a time of need, you understand the power of this command.

To prepare for this week, read Galatians 6:1-5. As you read, see if you can discover what Paul is saying to do, how we are to do it, and why we need to be careful when we do it

I want to encourage everyone who calls Grace Family Fellowship their church home to commit yourself to coming each week during this series. We are going to discover that we need others and they need us.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

Spiritual Gifts

October 12, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

How can I discover my spiritual gifts?

Last week we talked about how God gives spiritual gifts to those in the church so that they can be used to build up the body of Christ.

Below is some information you can use to help discover what your gifts are– they are the notes we will use in this week’s Bible Study.

1 Corinthians 12:1

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.

There are many different tools to help us discover our spiritual gifts. I have selected an on-line tool that I found to be easy to use and helpful.

Think of this as a starting point to learn about different spiritual gifts and the gifts you may have. The best way to determine spiritual gifts is not a test or assessment like this, but rather, serving others in the body and having them affirm your gifts as you use them.

Go to:                        www.spiritualgiftstest.com/test/adult

Click on the “Continue as a Guest” button.

The test will come up.

Answer each of the questions and follow the prompts.

Print out your results  (there is a “Print your Results” button on right side)

Read the “definitions” of your top 3 gifts

Bring these results to the small group on Wednesday (10/14/15) to discuss.

Here are some questions to consider:

1)    Was this a “hard” test for you to take? If “yes” why do you think it was?

2)    Do these gifts surprise you? Why? Why not?

3)    Can you think of an example when you were able to use this gift to serve others in the church/body?

4)    How could you use these gifts to “build up” those around you in the church?

5)    How have you seen others use their gifts to build you up?

6)    How can you use your spiritual gift this week for the benefit of others in your church?

Message: Serve One Another

In this message, we look at how we can serve one another by using our spiritual gifts. Using 1 Corinthians 12:1-27, we answer 8 important questions about spiritual gifts so that we can use them to serve and build up others in the church/body of Christ

October 11th News: Serve One Another

October 8, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

This Sunday we will continue our series Love One Another with the command to serve one another.

According to the Bible, God gives gifts to each believer so that he/she and serve others and build up the body. When we use these gifts we can love and serve each other in supernatural ways.

So, what are these gifts? And how can we use them? The apostle Paul talks about spiritual gifts in several of his letter to the early church. His message is as important for us today as it was for them.

To prepare for this week, read 1 Corinthians 12:1-27. As you read, consider this: how has God gifted you to serve others in the body of Christ?

I want to encourage everyone who calls Grace Family Fellowship their church home to commit yourself to coming each week during this series. We are going to discover that we need others and they need us.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

October 4th News: Encourage One Another

October 1, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

This Sunday we will continue our series Love One Another with the command to encourage one another.

We all need encouragement. Why? Because there are a lot of discouraging things that can and do happen to us on a regular basis. Plus, there is an enemy, Satan the deceiver, who constantly attempts to discourage God’s people.

So, what is encouragement according to the Bible? How can we courage others?

To prepare for this Sunday, read 1 Thessalonians 5:1-14.

As I mentioned last week, I am scheduled to be in south Georgia visiting a dear brother who has been a tremendous mentor in my life for the last 10 years. I say “scheduled” because Joaquin may prevent the trip. Troy Smith will be preaching and I know that his message will be an encouragement to you (see what I did there?!?). I know the weather will probably be nasty, but I hope you will all make every effort to be “members of one another” (last week’s message) and attend. ; )

I want to encourage everyone who calls Grace Family Fellowship their church home to commit yourself to coming each week during this series. We are going to discover that we need others and they need us.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug
