Series:The Apostle’s Creed– What Do You Believe?
This week we will focus on the first line of the Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
What you believe determines how you live your life. With this in mind, it is important to determine what you believe and why you believe it.
Studies tell us that most Americans believe that there is a God. The question is this: What do you believe about the God you say you believe in? And a good follow up question to that is: Why do you believe what you believe about the God you say you believe in?
As we look at the statement in the Creed we will discover a Biblical perspective on God the Father (the first person in the Trinity). Why is this important? Because what you believe about God determines how you will relate to him and, in turn, how you will live.
To prepare, read Acts 17:16-31 as see what Paul says about God to a group of philosophers in Athens. Then read Romans 1:18-25 to see the results of living with a distorted view of God. Finally, Read Psalm 139:1-16 to understand the relationship between God and the people he created.
Grace and peace,
Doug
