This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

In Galatians 4:8-20, Paul continues to plead with the Galatians to turn from adding anything to what Jesus has already done. He is upset because they are going back to the law to be acceptable to God and that is actually leading them back into slavery.

We have seen Paul’s frustration, and now we will see his heart.

To prepare, read Galatians 4:1-20.

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

In Galatians 4:1-7, we saw last week that Paul says we are slaves to the law and to elemental spiritual forces of the worldThose forces revolve around the idea of karma– you get good when you do good and bad when you do bad. And this idea has even entered the church.

Paul makes a startling statement about what God does to overcome these forces through Jesus. Grace is far superior to karma. It is a gift that allows us to become children of God forever.

We will finish Galatians 4:1-7 and see exactly what God did for us.

Also, I want to remind you that we will have a potluck lunch following the service at the Hasty’s home (2636 Wimbledon Point Dr.). Bring yourself and something to share!

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

In Galatians 4:1-7, Paul defines what it actually means to be a child of God. This is incredibly important because it establishes our identity in Jesus Christ. We will see that God did this because he wanted to and offers life in his family as a gift.

When we grasp this, we can rest in who he is and what he has done and focus on sharing this good news and his love with others.

To prepare, read Galatians 4:1-7.

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

In Galatians 3:26-29, Paul makes an incredible statement about the children of God. It was radical at the time and it is radical today as well.

To prepare read Galatians 3:26-29 and Luke 18:9-14.

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

In Galatians 3:15-18, Paul continues to share Old Testament history with the Galatians. He has just talked about how people can go down the law road or the faith road. One leads to death (the law road) and one leads to life (the faith road).

Now he talks about the relationship between the promise that was given to Abraham and the law that was given to Moses.

To prepare read Galatians 3:15-18 and Genesis 12:1-7.

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

In Galatians 3:10-14, Paul will present two different ways people approach God. One way works and one way doesn’t. One way gives glory to God and the other brings condemnation. One way leads to life and the other to death.

As you read Galatians 3:10-14, see if you can pick out the way that Pauls says will work.

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

Paul now moves to the father of the Jewish faith: Abraham. He will prove to the Galatians– by looking at Abraham– that faith is the key to life with God and has been since the beginning.

To prepare, read Galatians 3:6-9, Genesis 12:1-3,  and Genesis 15:1-19.

Please read these passages because there will be a pop quiz on their content!

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

In Galatians 3, Paul moves from talking about his experiences to asking the Galatians about their experiences with God. He poses some very provocative questions that apply to us today.

To prepare, read Galatians 3:1-5. Don’t rush through these words; rather, think about what Paul is saying to the Galatians– and think about what God is saying to you.

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will continue our series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

I was prepared to move on to Galatians chapter 3, but I believe we need to spend one more week on the idea that we “have been crucified with Christ.” It is an amazing truth that we need to permeate our souls.

We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper this Sunday.

To prepare, read Galatians 2:19-21, Romans 2:28-29, Jeremiah 31:33, and Ezekiel 36:24-28.

Looking forward to Sunday!!

Grace and peace,

Doug
