This Sunday we will continue our series called Love One Another.

This past week, Hayden and I got to go to Washington DC together to watch the Wizards play the Miami Heat. The tickets were a present for his birthday that we finally got to enjoy (it was a great time and exciting for the

Wizards to actually win and we were with two old friends). Before the game we had the chance to walk in the mall and see all the memorials that help define this great country.

As we were enjoying each other and the sites, I was struck by how important memorials are in our lives– both individually and collectively. And how we can memorialize good things and bad things because they both shape who we are and who we are becoming.

The same is true in our spiritual lives. We are told to “remember” over 200 times in scripture. Why? because we can often forget.

This week we will look at a story where God tells his people to build a memorial. To prepare, read Joshua 3 and 4. It’s a cool story that shows how remembering is important to build unity in a group. i can’t wait to share this and hope you can be with us…

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

GRACE2F HAPPENINGS

Christmas Caroling and Dinner– Wednesday, December 12th

We will be gathering to sing some Christmas carols at Russell House (a government subsidized housing facility) this week. After singing, we will meet in the Fellowship Hall at Hilltop Community Church (where we have our services) to enjoy a pot luck dinner. The folks at Russell House will be thrilled to hear us (even my singing!) and it is always good to be able to get together informally as a church body. We will gather in the parking lot of Hilltop Community church (Fellowship hall side) at 5:00pm and then head to Russell House. We will eat at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. If you can’t make the singing, you can just come to the dinner (bit realize, if I’m the only one caroling it will not market our church very effectively… in fact, the police may be called).

We will try to organize the food so that we have enough and a variety.

Christmas Eve Service

Our Christmas Eve service will be Monday, December 24th (that’s a shocker) at 5:30pm in the Fellowship Hall of Hilltop Community Church (where we meet on Sundays). The service will be about one hour.
