February 15th News- Blessed are the Peacemakers

This week we will continue our series on the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:1-12.

As we listen to Jesus’ words here, we discover that he is describing a new way for us to live right-side-up in an up-side-down world.

The seventh Beatitude is found Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

This is an incredibly practical, relevant, and challenging beatitude. I believe that each of us have areas in our lives where there is not “peace” in our relationships with others. As I’ve thought about this topic, I have discovered that there is much to consider. Because of that, we will spend the next 3 weeks looking at what biblical “peacemaking” looks like. I believe that we will be able to implement what we learn immediately.

This week, we will see some foundational principles necessary for us to live as “peacemakers”. To prepare, read Genesis 50:14-21 to see an example of a peacemaker at work and 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 to see our call to be a peacemaker.

I also want to remind you that we have combined our Sunday service with Faith Community Church for the next few months as their pastor, Troy Smith, is on a sabbatical.  If you remember, we did this at the end of the summer for a month as well. The big change for us is that our service time will be moved back from 9:15am to 10:00am.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,
