Series:BE-Atitudes

This week we will continue our series on the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:1-12.

As we listen to Jesus’ words here, we discover that he is describing a new way for us to live right-side-up in an up-side-down world.

The fifth Beatitude is found Matthew 5:7

Blessed are the merciful,  for they will be shown mercy.

In this Beatitude, Jesus moves us from an internal process of a person relating to God to an toward expression towards others. As we understand who God is, who we are, and what he has done on our behalf, we are free to care for and express love to those around us.

That’s what we’ll be talking about this Sunday. To prepare, you can also read, Ephesians 2:1-10, Matthew 18:21-35, Micah 6:6-8 and Titus 3:3-8.

I also want to remind you that we have combined our Sunday service with Faith Community Church for the next few months as their pastor, Troy Smith, is on a sabbatical.  If you remember, we did this at the end of the summer for a month as well. The big change for us is that our service time will be moved back from 9:15am to 10:00am.

NEW SERVICE TIME:  10am

Finally, we will be having a pot-luck brunch after the service this Sunday. If you can, bring something to share and hang out with everyone. Think of it as a pre-Super Bowl tailgate tailgate!

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug
