Last week we finished going over some Biblical New Year’s Resolutions. Again, most resolutions fail because they rely on our efforts to be fulfilled… and we constantly fall short, don’t we?
God want us to rely on Him— for everything. In fact, I was reminded that we sometimes change our resolutions because we know how difficult they are or how often we have failed to keep them when I saw this picture last week:
In our frustration we can surrender to what we think it the truth about ourselves. But God wants us to know the real truth– about him and our relationship to him.
Here are the 10 guidelines we went over…
1. QUIT WORRYING:
2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:
3. TRUST ME:
4. LEAVE IT ALONE:
5. TALK TO ME
6. HAVE FAITH
7. SHARE
8. BE PATIENT
9. BE KIND
10. LOVE YOURSELF
This Sunday, we will follow up on the last Guideline– “Love Yourself”. One the surface this may seem a bit ego-centric or self-centered, but the real idea is for you to understand how God sees you… and then accept and receive that. I have a friend who has said that two of the hardest things for Christians to really accept and believe are that they are forgiven and loved by God. In fact, many Christians would find this thought incredible: God likes you.
What do you think? Your answer is incredibly important because it will determine how Looking forward to Sunday (and 2013)!!!
Grace and peace,
Doug
