Last week we talked about the fact that all of us come into the world with a question mark over our heads asking, “What Am I Worth?”

We spend our lifetime looking desperately for an answer.

The world answers that question by saying that you must prove your worth. You are defined and valued by what you do and how you look. The better you perform the more you are valued.

Most of us approach God the same way. We try to prove our worth and earn his approval… But no matter how good we are, we fail at times. And when we do, we believe that God is either angry, disappointed, disgusted  or all three of those things.

But God, in his Word, gives a totally different answer than the world. He says you are already worthy because he made you in his image and he loves you. Your value is based on what he has done.

This week, we will explore this idea a bit more. Many times we think that Jesus is the loving part of God– the New Testament shows God’s love. But then we may think that the Old Testament shows the angry, punishing God. We will see from the Old Testament that God has always loved people.

So what went wrong? Why is there so much pain and brokenness in the world? How come I don’t feel like God loves me?

Well, we’ll talk about that too. Join us at 9:15am this Sunday to see more about God’s incredible love for you.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug
