July 6th News- JOY in Dissatisfaction

Series: Philippians: Finding Joy in a Broken World.

I’m sure that the title of this week’s sermon may seem a bit paradoxical, but I think it is actually accurate. Since we live in a broken world, we will constantly be dissatisfied with many of the situations and circumstances we encounter. The key, according to Paul, is how you deal with your dissatisfaction.

To prepare for this Sunday, read Philippians 2:14-18 and ask yourself these questions:

1) What do I complain about?

2) Who do I complain to?

3) How much does my complaining help to provide a solution?

When I really ponder these questions, I realize that complaining– in and of itself–may not always be wrong. It is understanding the purpose and motivation of the complaint that can move us to a place of joy instead of defeat.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July…

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug
