This week we will continue our study of the Book of Acts. To prepare, read Acts 16. There are three stories about people who encounter God and are ministered to by Paul and Silas.

As you read these stories, think about what they mean to you. How are you like Paul? What kinds of people do you regularly encounter?

May God bless you this day– and I hope to see you Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

Get Out of Here Sandy!

This is a phrase that comes easily to me because I have a sister named Sandy who i said that to a lot when I was a little kid. Now I don’t say that to my sister but to hurricanes named Sandy.

As of this time WE WILL HAVE OUR REGULAR CHURCH SERVICE TOMORROW.

I also want you to know that we need to start our services no later than 9:15am because of the Hilltop Community Church service that follows ours.

Hooray! The Christmas season is here!

This is a great time to hear the story of the birth of Jesus (obviously). But my prayer this year is for us to hear this familiar story in a whole new way. Yes we know it… Yes we like it… But do we fully grasp the magnitude of the event. I know that I don’t.

This week we will hear about 3 girls and a baby. Actually they are not all girls, but they all did have babies. To prepare for this week, read Genesis 21:1-7, Luke 1:5-25 and Luke 1:26-38– and hear about Sarah, Elizabeth, and Mary. As you read, see if you can discover how there stories are alike. How are they different? What do they mean for you, today?

I’m looking forward to going through these familiar stories and I’m excited about how God will reveal some new things that can give us hope, confidence and excitement this Christmas season.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,
Doug

This Sunday we will continue to look at Paul’s first recorded sermon in the Bible. It is found in Acts chapter 13:13-52.

Last week Paul demonstrated God’s involvement and faithfulness with the people of Israel throughout their history. he then talks about Jesus and his death on the cross. This week we will focus on what Jesus accomplished (Acts 13:32-41). It is unbelievably good news for every one of us!

So take a look at the scripture and listen to God’s voice… He wants you to know these truths. He wants me to know them too…

Looking forward to Sunday!

Doug

This week we will return to our study of the Book of Acts by looking at Acts 12:1-19,

When you read this you will see it a miraculous story of deliverance. Ever feel like you need a miracle in your life? Ever wanted more spiritual power? How about protection from outside threats?

You are not alone. And God wants us to know what he has done in the past so that we can be encouraged about our future.

Hope to see you all in church tomorrow…

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This week we will finish up our study on money, giving, and generosity.

I want to thank my dad for sharing last week while he was visiting– and your graciousness in making him and his wife feel so at home.

I hope that you have been thinking about the scripture passages we have been studying. This topic of money and possessions is extremely important– that’s why God addresses it in his Word so often.

One of the results of a vibrant Christian community is what one commentator calls “eye-popping generosity”. Does that describe our church? Does that describe me? What about you?

This Sunday we’re going to listen to Jesus talk about this topic. I think that’s a pretty good place to conclude our study. To prepare, read Matthew 6:19-34. This is an incredible passage that helps us to understand why money and materialism and giving and generosity can be so hard for us and create so many challenges in our lives. It also gives us some great truths to cling to and a promise to live for.

I hope to see you there…

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug
