Message: Announcing Radical Humility

In order to follow Jesus, we must be willing to participate in radical humility. This is not an easy thing to do.

October 8th News: Follow Me– Announcing Radical Humility

Message: Announcing Radical Humility

Last week, we saw that Jesus announced a radical ministry focusing on these areas:

  • to proclaim good news to the poor.
  • to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
  • to proclaim recovery of sight for the blind,
  • to set the oppressed free,
  • to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Seems simple enough, right? So why do we have such a hard time doing it? I think we struggle in two related areas: pride and humility. Jesus calls us to be people of radical humility.

This week we will explore that idea a bit– because we live in a culture that desperately need us to live this out.

To prepare, read Matthew 5:43-47, Matthew 7:1-4, and Philippians 2:1-4.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

Do you need prayer? Our prayer ministry wants to pray for you! Look for Prayer Request cards by the offering basket. Fill one out and put it in the offering basket– or find the prayer table after the service and pray with someone.

June 8th News- JOY in Humility

Series: Philippians: Finding Joy in a Broken World.

This week Paul gets very practical in his thoughts about JOY. In Philippians 2:1-4, he begins to explain how we should interact with each other. These are words that make a lot of sense, but they are very difficult to put into practice.

Why?

Because they require us to live a life of humility… And this can be challenging for all of us.

Read the passage and consider this: what is the key, according to Paul, to live a life of humility? I believe that our understanding of this passage can change our lives.

If the above sounds familiar, that’s because it is identical to what I posted last week. I would ask for your continued prayers for the Rodriquez family (their son, Mark, was killed last Friday night in a tragic, random shooting). If you have been watching the news, God has given them great favor to share about their son, his faith, and his Savior Jesus Christ. God is moving and working in this in incredible ways. The pain of the loss is very real. The joy of his salvation is very real too.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

March 23rd News

This week we will begin a new series entitled Promises from the Upper Room.

In this series we will focus on John 13-17. These chapters all take place on the night that Jesus was betrayed and arrested. It is a time when he communicates the last important thoughts he wants his disciples to hear before he leaves. He wants us to hear them as well.

As we head toward Easter, it seems to be a perfect fit to focus our hearts and minds on the last words of Jesus to his friends.

To prepare, read John 13:1-17. It is the story of Jesus washing his disciples feet. It is amazing to think that he chooses this activity to start their last night together. What does it tell us about Jesus? What does it mean about us?

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug
