October 15th News: Follow Me– Be My Disciples

October 14, 2017 by · Leave a Comment

Series: Follow Me

Message: Be My Disciples

Jesus never planned to carry out his mission on earth alone. When you think about that– God partners with man to achieve His goal– it is somewhat mind blowing. Why? What does a group of broken sinners bring to the table? How come he invites those he had to come save to work alongside him?

Radical, huh? Different then any other religion, that’s for sure.

We see this play out when Jesus begins to pick his formal “disciples”– the men who would travel and live with him for three years and then carry on the ministry after he ascends to heaven.

To prepare, read Matthew 4:18-25.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

October 8th News: Follow Me– Announcing Radical Humility

October 6, 2017 by · Leave a Comment

Series: Follow Me

Message: Announcing Radical Humility

Last week, we saw that Jesus announced a radical ministry focusing on these areas:

  • to proclaim good news to the poor.
  • to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
  • to proclaim recovery of sight for the blind,
  • to set the oppressed free,
  • to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Seems simple enough, right? So why do we have such a hard time doing it? I think we struggle in two related areas: pride and humility. Jesus calls us to be people of radical humility.

This week we will explore that idea a bit– because we live in a culture that desperately need us to live this out.

To prepare, read Matthew 5:43-47, Matthew 7:1-4, and Philippians 2:1-4.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

October 1st News: Follow Me– Announcing Radical Ministry

September 28, 2017 by · Leave a Comment

Series: Follow Me

Message: Announcing Radical Ministry

This Sunday, we will continue to look at the life that Jesus modeled for us. As we see how he lived, we see how we can live as well.

After Jesus is tempted by Satan in the desert, he begins teaching and preaching throughout Galilee. In time he returns to his home town– Nazareth.

In a very dramatic way, Jesus announces the focus of his ministry– he announces what he is going to do. And it is incredibly radical. It is also important for us to understand today– especially with everything that is going on around us.

To prepare, read Luke 4:14-30. As you read, notice how the people react.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This Sunday we are finishing our study of the Book of Nehemiah…

We are going to see Nehemiah and his country men finish their incredible building project. And we’ll see the result is much more than just the protection of the city of Jerusalem.

Come hear about the last Brick Nehemiah has for and the building projects in our lives.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This Sunday we are continuing our study of the Book of Nehemiah…

Last week in Nehemiah 5, we saw that Nehemiah and the people of Jerusalem had to deal with internal opposition. This is often more painful and challenging than external opposition because we are often caught by surprise when the opposition comes from those closest to us.

We also looked at 4 questions from Nehemiah 5:

1) Where is the opposition coming from?

2) What are the problems this opposition creates?

3) According the Nehemiah, what is the root of these problems?

4) According to Nehemiah, what is the result of these problems?

This week we will focus on the last 2 questions. Read Nehemiah 5 and see if you can find the answer. I’ll give you a hint: the answer to questions 3 & 4 is found in a single verse.

Also, I want to thank everyone who was able to attend the first official “Church Meeting” of Grace Family Fellowship last night. God has been building, guiding, and directing us for the last seven years and he will continue to do so now and in the future. He is faithful to complete the work he has started in the church!

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

CHURCH MEETING- Wednesday August 14th

August 12, 2013 by · Leave a Comment

I want to remind everyone that we will have a Church Meeting on Wednesday, August  14th at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall of Hilltop Community Church.

This is for EVERYONE WHO CALLS GRACE2F THEIR CHURCH HOME. I have shared over the summer that we need to make some decisions as a church that are important and necessary. I am asking that you come to hear some of our challenges and some opportunities.

This is a very important time for us and I ask that you pray for our time before hand.

Grace and peace,

Doug

This Sunday we are continuing our study of the Book of Nehemiah by looking at Nehemiah chapter 5.

We have seen that Nehemiah and his country men have faced great opposition in the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. Last week we saw how Nehemiah adjusted his original plan to  meet this opposition– and we must be ready to adjust our plans as well.

In Nehemiah 5, we see some more opposition that Nehemiah must face. As you read this chapter, be thinking about these questions:

1) Where is the opposition coming from?

2) What are the problems this opposition creates?

3) According the Nehemiah, what is the root of these problems?

4) According to Nehemiah, what is the result of these problems?

We will see that Nehemiah 5 is very much like many of the issues and challenges in our lives– and, hopefully, we will see that these challenges can be overcome with the next brick Nehemiah hands us.

Also– we will have a GRACE FAMILY FELLOWSHIP CHURCH MEETING this Wednesday, August 14th in the Fellowship Hall of Hilltop Community Church. I would like everyone who calls this church “home” to attend to discuss our goals as a church and evaluate how we are doing in meeting those goals. This is a time for all of us to prayerfully consider where God is leading us.

Looking forward to Sunday (and Wednesday)!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This Sunday Grace Family Fellowship WILL NOT MEET at our regular time and place.

Instead, I want to encourage you to attend CrossCurrent Church. They meet in the same building as us at 10:00am (hey, extra sleep!) in the main sanctuary (just down the hall from where we meet).

In the past, we have joined Crosscurrent on Good Friday and Christmas Eve. I’d love for you to experience one of their Sunday services.

I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in last week’s service while we are away. I hope you enjoyed John Lynch.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Doug

This Sunday we will have a special guest speaker. He is a nationally renowned author, pastor, speaker, and, well, all-around great guy… I wish he were here in person– but a video is better than nothing!

We are going to see a sermon this week that impacted my life and Christian walk more than any other. John Lynch will share a message that I have actually preached to you before (because it is so powerful)– but he is the best at it. I know that you will enjoy it!

Looking forward to Sunday!

Doug
